OFFICIAL RECEIPTS AND INVOICES NO LONGER EXPIRES – BIR

official receipts (OR)

On June 30, 2022, The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) removed the five (5) year validity period on the permit to use all manual and system-generated official receipts and invoices, in line with Republic Act No.11032, the Ease if Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, which aims to streamline government services and reduce financial burden on taxpayers. The phrases “THIS INVOICE/RECEIPT SHALL BE VALID FOR FIVE(5) YEARS FROM DATE OF ATP” and “VALID UNTIL (5 YEARS)”, printed at the bottom of official receipts and invoices shall now be disregarded.

This means that business owners are now allowed to use the unused portion of their existing official receipts and invoices beyond five (5) years. BIR has issued Revenue Regulation (RR) No. 06-22 also declaring permit to use system generated receipts or invoices valid unless revoked on certain grounds. This revokes BIR RR No. 18-2012, which regulated the printing of all invoices and receipts by setting a five-year validity period on official receipts, sales invoices, and other commercial invoices.
